One paid collection on my account (Dental Bill) due to fall off next year(?) but I need to raise my score as quickly as possible. I paid directly to the Original Creditor. I disputed validity requesting validation (certified mail) with the CA and within a couple days received a letter stating that "When you paid the account you admitted the account was yours" - They also included dates when I paid the account and the date I last called the Dental Agency. Further the letter states " A request has been sent to the credit reporting agencies to update your credit bureau files to show the account as paid" The account was already listed as "Paid Collection" The dates that they have in the letter for the date I paid and what they are reporting to the agencies are not the same. The letter says I paid 7/7/04 and the Credit Report says date closed is 09/2005. The letter from CA also states (bold and underlined) "This is the last time we will be responding to your credit clinic inquiries about this account" Whats the next step? Another letter with cc to BBB and CRAs referencing FCRA factual reporting and violations? Thanks for any advice.
As I read deeper into the forums... The letter I was sent back from my validation request says "...you paid this account in full XX/XX/XX directly to the client".. Assuming is a bad thing but does this not mean that the CA did not own the debt? And since I paid the OC... can the CA even report this at all?
