I had a credit card account reported incorrently as a charge off when it was paid/never late. The bank updated the information and it was actually completely removed from both Equifax and Transunion. Experian on the other hand now reports it as: Paid/Current, was a charge off Account closed at consumer's request and will continue on record until 03/2009!!! What is that supposed to mean!? Any ideas on what to do? Thank you! Mark
Why don't you contact the creditor to see if they will send a correction for you? I know Target was REALLY nice about researching an issue for me and they deleted ALL negatives when I only asked them about one specific one. So you never know....Good luck!
Thank you for the comments! Has anybody else seen this though? How can it be a Paid/Current and next to is "was a charge off". Mark
I had something similar. My Macy's account was being reported as "charge-off/current, was a charge-off" Since I hadn't made payments on it in almost 6 years and it definitely was not current, I had no idea what it meant. But it went bye-bye so I never asked. =)
Is this Experian that is reporting this? At one point I had an account report as Status: paid in settlement/open/current/past due 180 days. How do you even begin to explain this this... the kick in the a$$ is the balance reported is $10. As of 3/15 it's still reporting paid in settlement/past due 180 days.
Yes this is Experian reporting it like this. The problem is that this is a very old account. It was going to come off 1/2003, and now it say it will come off 3/2009! I just sent them a big letter disputing it telling them that it doesn't make sense. Mark
