Does anyone know what is the difference in the two? Is one status preferable to the other? Thanks for any help anyone can give.
I don't guess they would report an upaid lien as released, but when one report shows two different statuses for two liens paid on the same date, I'm interested to see if anyone knows if one status is preferable for any reason. If I've got to live with these things for over 5 more years, I'd at least like for them to be in the most positive status they can be. Interestingly, the one that TU lists as released, Equifax doesn't report at all.
Check the status with the court. Once you pay it, the filing party should then release it. They are two different things. If it is not showing "released" with the court, contact the party who filed the lien, and ask them to change the status to "released."
Remember, it doesn't necessarily have to be on all three reports. As long as it is released with the county clerks office then there is no need to mention this to any cra's that are not reporting it. Ther are basically two types of lien status, open and released. Sometimes you may have duplicte liens, one open and one released, but it is best that your lien is released with the cra's in a "what is best" situation. In my opinion, I would determine if the liens are accurate or actually yours. If they are any innaccuracies, then you may be able to have them entirely removed. Iv
Thanks for the info. That was what I was looking for. I'm not too hopeful about finding anything inaccurate since I stupidly faxed copies of all 3 of the released liens to each of the 3 CRAs. (I thought it would help my scores to make sure they were reporting them as paid.) The only thing I have found inaccurate so far is that EQ reports one of them as having been paid 7/00 instead of 6/00. I'm not sure that's going to be enough to go on. But....once I get my other little issues fixed, I may give it a shot anyway. Thanks again.
