    Hello,

Last year when my wife and I bought our house, we had to pay off about 7 medical collection accounts of my wife's. The most that any one was is about $300. Well, what is the best route to dispute these? They are all showing as "paid collections" from a collection agency.

Any ideas? Thanks for the help!,

I would have to say the first step would be to simply dispute with the cra's as not mine. Than when or if they come back verified send the ca's a validation letter. But someone else here might be able to offer you some better advise.

I've got 2 out of 3 of my husband's deleted (waiting to hear on the 3rd) by simply disputing as not mine. We had also paid them because of the mortgage.

I tried a "not mine" and it came back verified. I have four that total less than $100. Do a search on this site for "HIPAA". There is an explanation about this with a letter (I'm sorry I can't remeber by who). I haven't tried this yet, but it looked like others had.

Michelle - Were yours paid? I was trying to figure out if the fact that they were paid might have had any bearing in it. I paid a movie store CA on my file when we got our mortgage and then disputed this year as not mine and it came off all 3. So I'm thinking maybe they weren't as diligent because they were paid.

Mine were paid to the Hospital. My daughter had two years of knee problems. They set-up new accounts each week she had physical therapy. The hospital kept sending half of my bills to the wrong address, even after numerous calls. I have copies of all of them for my records. I haven't tried calling the hospital yet, but I should. They are well aware of the problems I had.

Thanks for your reply Michelle. :) I hope that your daughter's knee problems are a thing of the past.

    luscious1,

I think that's what makes me madder & madder. This is long term and after two plus years you think they could get it right! My daughter is 13 (today) and she will not be able to have her second surgery until 16 or so. But she makes the best of it and life continues on.

    Thanks,
    Michelle
