When I moved a few years ago, my cable box was packed away. I didn't think anything about cable because it is all included where I currently rent. A few months later, I unpacked the box the cable box was in and had an "uh oh" moment. I took the cable box to the cable company, explained what happened, made sure all was clear on my account, etc. When I paid the bill, the clerk/cashier said no adverse action had been taken. I believed her because I had not received anything from any CA and never did. Well... turns out... there is a CA line on my credit report for the cable bill I paid. It is marked as a paid collection. What can I do? I did some online research and found the president of Cox cable and e-mail address format (I think). Talking to their customer service is a joke, esp. when you don't have an account with them currently. Does the OC have to ask the CA to remove it from my CR? Should I contact the CA or OC or both? Should I explain what happened as I did here or use some other format/verbiage? It was an honest oversight. I didn't "have to" return a thing. I had cable TV and Internet so I didn't need their service. When I had their service I always paid my bill; my service was never disconnected for non-payment. Thanks for the advice.
No I haven't. Hmmm... think that would work? Should all CRA disputes be done via snail mail CMRRR? I read somewhere that online disputes are not that "successful." Thanks for the reply. I really appreciate it.
I don't know if it will work or not, but if the CA knows the account is paid they might not bother to respond and it gets removed. I'd send it snail mail CMRRR just to have the audit trail.
