Re: On a related note... "Palisades Collection, LLC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Asta Funding, Inc. a NASDAQ listed company. We provide a total accounts receivable outsourcing solutions to client's nationwide. " Source http://www.esmalloffice.com/offers/palisades.html. Looks like it was organized relatively recently (in the past year), although ASFI has been around since 1997. Asta Funding, Inc. is based in Englewood Cliffs NJ. Other subsidiaries listed are Palisades Acquisition LLC, and Computer Finance, LLC. Looks like between those three subs and the parent, they bought up over 1.4 billion in various distressed consumer receivables since approx June of last year, so I'm guessing we'll be hearing about them on this board again. They also bought a "50% participation" in another 44 million from a "previous company" and another 35% participation in 46 million from a company "that has many years of experience in this type of consumer receivables (OSI?)." ASTA is publicly traded, in case anyone wants to buy stock! By the way, the CEO of ASTA got $502k in compensation last year, so I think he can afford a suit or two.
An Update According to Equifax, they have no record of any collection account from Palisades. The merge report from TU has it listed clearly as from both...
Re: An Update It's just according to the CSR I had on the phone from Equifax. I did NOT pull a report yet to verify.
Sounds like a numbers game and they are just trying to extort as much as they can in hopes of us not paying attention. Hermit5 ==================== Yeah but it's not an underhanded racket. I have to agree with others on the board to keep from getting chewed out!
Well, let's say this...they are illegally collecting in my state as they do not have a third-party bond that I have documented. Hubby was never late in any way, shape, or form for this company IF, and I say IF since they never contacted him in any way yet except to slap a negative on his report. So, yes, underhanded, illegal, and slimy! :::raspberries::::::so there! LOL
Re: On a related note... hermit5 I too had the same collection agency show up in my credit report. OSI are a$$ openings. I treid to speak with them, had to talk to three people before getting nice people. I finally received a number to thier credit reporting department and got every thing straightend out. It was weird though I had not had an account with at&t for about six or seven year at least. Hmmm something fishy this way comes :-^
Yes, I do have one of Palisade Collection on my Experian Credit file.I never got any letter or what soever from this company saying that I owe them money. It just showing on my record all on a sudden. I believe Palisade and Gulf state same company, since they have exact same address . The address is: 2425 Commerce Ave Duluth GA 30096 Here is some Phone numbers to contact:- 1-800-514-9754 1800-619-3419 1-800-425-0006 Hope this help
Hubby just got dinged on EQ eport for an AT&T bill from palisades/OSI. funny thing is we just got a letter from Gulf State YESTERDAY that says they are collecting it fo Palisades that bought the account. However we have not had AT&T forever and I KNOW we do not owe this at all! On to the courts after validation.
Well, so far, no validation (Gasp, I'm shocked)....I'm sure it will not arrive and this will be a pointless escapade. Idiots. Ok...I'm back from Vegas..that was fun!
Re: Progress I got the EXACT same thing!! I have never heard of them and never recieved anything from them. Then, just 3 weeks ago, I had a collection account on my report for $27 that was supposedly 4 years old from AT&T???? I do not recognize this account--just sent out a validation letter. I so wanna play hardball with these guys!!
Re: Progress boywounder: wait IF you really do not wnt to play hard ball try speaking to some one in thier credit reporting agency department I did and he immediately mailed me verification that I owe nothing and that the entry was a mistake. The letter also noted that all three credit bureaus would be notified. I checked four days later and they were off my report .
Re: Progress With all due respect, I don't think I'd talk to anyone until after the initial disputes are documented and I have my paperwork in hand. It could backfire!
Re: Progress Well this is true. I quess because it has been such a long hall for me. in the last six months ( score from 529 now at above seven hundred) I just prefer the easy way out of disputes if it is possible at this point any way. But I understand your tanacity. Go get him tiger!!!!
Re: Progress Palisades had quietly changed the name on hubby's report to OSI Portfolio services.. Anyone have an address, please? Thanks
Re: Progress Good news and Bad news Good news: Here's a link for their offices http://www.osi-careers.com/offices.html Bad News: This is Gulf States/OSI
