Short story. I agreed to make payments to my paramedic program that costs $12,000 total. After didactic and midway through clinical I asked for a grace period to just get a large loan an get it over with. I was told Ok and missed a few payments. One day I was asked to make a payment, paid $600. The next day I was given 6 days to pay or quit. I wasted almost 1,000 hours and got jacked. They are pursuing collections. I have asked via phone to leave me alone, and 3 lawyers told me they don't know what to do.

Any suggestions for the credit or legal side?

P.S. Approximately 14 were released the same day.

I'm assuming you signed some type of contract here that you would pay the $12,000 per a certain schedule. Is that correct? Also, what was their reasoning for giving you just 6 days to pay up or quit? Does the contract include any language about their rights in this regard once you are behind on payments? This whole thing sounds pretty fishy to me...

I signed a one page contract that stated I agreed to make payments or I wouldn't not receive my certificate of completion, nothing about being expelled. Their reasoning was "because we can". I found out they were not accredited by the state at the time I started the program.

I think you may want to talk to a couple of lawyers about this to see what your options are. The fact that they weren't even accredited by the state to offer the program yet they were taking people's money sounds really sleazy. Is the debt showing up as a collection on your credit reports yet?
