Background reference. Telephone service that was canceled by the consumer<myself> and arrange ments were made to pay the final balance. Installments were made and was finally paid off totally six months later. This all occurred in 1999. Upon looking at my recent credit report , It shows under the category "collection account" with the proper date of when it was placed into installments and when it was deemed "PAID" off. I have no other information in the regular account history of the Telephone company showing any lates or derogs,or even a payment history. THe Telephone Comp. is only named in the area of the Collection part. There is a Collection Agency name, claiming they placed this information in the report. I agree wholeheartedly that I am responisbile for payments late or otherwise. My question is: How can the original creditor:In this case the telephone company not be listed anywhere in my report except that they supposedly turned the matter over to a collection agency?? Shouldnt the Telephone company also have its own listing showing when my account was open and closed with them? along with my payment history up until they turned the matter over to a collection agency? My report doesnt seem very clear on this matter... Any ideas about which way to go on this?
