My husband received a letter today from AMEX, a settlement offer for a $345 charge-off...from 1994! This hasn't been on his credit report for years! I received a letter from NCO also for an AMEX debt, for a card I never had, just yesterday. That's a lot of activity from AMEX! My question is this...do you think they will reinsert this, even though it is old? Why the hell did this pop up? It is past SOL, should I send a c&d? I want to know why this came up...it is almost like they know we are going for a mortgage soon and want to screw us up. Please advise!
I doubt it s actually from Amex, likely a scam illegal CA. If you go to my webite you will find a"SOL" letter for the one which is past SOL and a dispute/validation/cease and desist letter for the one which isn't yours. You should also Opt Out to prevent these garbage CAs from getting your info.
