Cherie's Discover Card payment is due today, the 10th, $644.20 I'm
about $100 short with only $531.61 in the checking account. Hubbys'
check will show up tomorrow morning on My Bank of America Online, its
automatic/electronic deposit. If I click to pay this afternoon after 2:00,
will everything be okay or will I need to wait until tomorrow morning to
initiate the payment? If I do wait until tomorrow will Discover consider me
late, or do I have a couple of days of grace?

Personally I NEVER pay anything until I know for a fact the money is in my account. I have also had direct deposit for years and there have been a few occasions (3) where my deposit was not credited in the morning grrrr. So since then I have always made sure it's there before I schedule payments.

I am not sure if discover gives any kind of grace period??

Just an idea. If it was me, I would send as much as I could today and the rest tomorrow. If they hit you up for a late fee, you at least have an argument you did the best you could. I don't deal with Discover at all, so I don't know how good they are on waiving late fees

You should be okay IF his direct deposit hits tomorrow morning. If you bank at a small bank, call them in the morning to make sure that the deposit has hit. If it hasn't they can manually pull it in to his account. I wouldn't get in the habit of doing things like this though. It could become expensive with nsf fees.

No, the TOTAL bill is 644.20 due by October 10th

    The min payment is $13.00

I looked at the bill closing statement date October 11: same for Sept, Aug, July, June and back

This info is on the web site; I'm eastern time.. now what?

SmartCheckSM payments may be made only once every seven calendar days.

Payments made after 2:30 p.m. (Central Time) Sundayâ??Thursday will be credited to
your Account the next day. Payments made after 2:30 p.m. (Central Time) on Friday
will be credited to your Account on Sunday.

Why not just make the minimum payment now and, when good funds are available make the payment for the balance? I know you'll incur interest charges but, no late fees or a late notation. One of these things that can't be helped.

I agree with keepmine, make the min payment or how much you do have available in checking?? yes you may pay some interest, but that's better than risking a late fee, late notation and rate hike from discover!!!

I agree. Floating is a bad idea. Never pay more than what is in your account. When DH's check gets credited, then send that balance of the amount due to the CC.

It is just too risky otherwise.

You might want to look into getting a small overdraft line of credit on your checking account (usually they are from $500 to $2000). That covers your butt incase of a boo-boo (ie. one of you forgets to write down a check, or debit).

If the min is $13.00, pay $13.00 or more and the balance when you are sure the deposit is in the account...SEARS stores take payments for DISCOVERCARD.

If you had NO previous balance, and PAID IN FULL before the next bill...YOU SHOULD HAVE NO INTEREST...I THINK~~~(THEY MAY HAVE CHANGED IT, THOUGH)

I paid the entire amount due $644.20 at 2:17 yesterday afternoon. Everything is fine. MY DISCOVER got their payment and credited me for it on time, the payroll went in and the discover payment was withdrawn last night. To close though.

You can do the same thing yourself with out overdraft.
If you do it your self there are no fees or interest.
