I had a account with TCF Bank and I closed it, however I thought it was at a $0 balance, but I guess something went through right when I was closing it so it closed with a -$72 balance. They never really informed me and on my latest credit report shows this....

Account Name: PROFESSNL ACCT MGMT IN
Acct Type: Collection Department / Agency / Attorney
    Acct Status: Closed
    Monthly Payment:
    Date Open: 10/1/2000
    Balance: $72.00
    Terms: Unknown
    High Balance:
    Limit:
    Past Due: $72.00
Payment Status: Seriously past due date / assigned to attorney, collection agency, or credit grantor's internal collection department

I will gladly pay it for deletion, but I don't know who to contact to try for a paid for deletion. Obviously I'm not going to pay it if they won't delete it and reset the date on it.

Oh yes and quick question.... how long do inquiries show?

    Inquiries stay for 2 years.

You negotiate pay for deletion with the company reporting it. In this case, the CA.

    Have you sent them validation?

Thanks for the response... but that's not my point.... I don't know who they are... all I have is their name off the CR. I'm not worried about drawing this out it's a nice easy step, I just want to pay for deletion, don't wanna draw it out with validations etc over a simple $72. So I'm just trying to get contact information for them because all I have is their name on the CR. Typically I'd go through the full process, but it's $72, so my plan is to give them a call, not admit it's mine, but offer to settle it out if I pay them and they delete it in return, and have them send it in writing. Normally I would never call, but it's such a small amount, and it'll be a simple call, don't admit it's mine and ask if they will just settle for paid for deletion, if not then I begin the long process.

OIC - Call the CRA reporting it...they will have the necessary information.

You could also go to www.collector.com and see if they are on the CA Rosters. If so, it will give you the address, phone number, and sometimes the fax number.

Ok experian was no help what so ever, I called and they said "We don't have any more information then what's on your report" I said bullcrap, cause then how do you contact them if I dispute it... you have all their contact info. She said try directory assistance... sure I can do that with HALF a name.
