I have just started to get a handle on my finances, and am asking advice on the following. Item 1 - AFNI, Inc - SprintPCS account I moved from Reno NV back to Wisconsin some 3 years ago. At the time living in Reno, I had a SprintPCS account. After moving here, I found that the service area was not all that great, more so in the area that I was working. I had some lengthy conversations with Sprint about this and they agreed to let me out of the service contract free and clear ( no pun intended) 3 years later, I find a AFNI Inc. collection account on my reports for the early termination fee. Nice. Although I would like to go right to Sprint and ring some necks, I am thinking that it may be easier to pay the amount that AFNI is asking for in exchange for a deletion from all 3 CRA's including the inquiry. Is this possible? Item 2 - NCO ATT this is a account, also from my time in Reno. After repeated attempts to get ATT wireless to get my billing and service correct, I dropped them. After several rounds with a customer service manager, they agreed to take 1/2 of the early termination fee after I dropped the service. I paid the amount and switched to sprint. I see that ATT wireless now has assigned this account, for the full fee to NCO. My questions are this. I have the resources to pay these items. The total amounts are less then 500 dollars. And in the long run, would probably be quicker and less painful then disputing, validating, verifying etc. I know it is my right to do so, but I would just like them to be gone. Will the CA's be willing to do so for payment in full? No work on their part, just get paid and delete. Or to cover my rearend, go through the paces? Any suggestions or comments are appreciated. Mike.
pay for deletion! easy to do, no hassle, just get everything in writing. what purpose does it serve to go through the paces? to rack up violations that you probably won't sue over? if you can afford it, pay it and move on.
