Hello everyone, I have a question, about a year ago I was reading a post where someone had drafted a letter stating "That although I don't validate the debt(or something to that effect) I will pay in full what is owed on the closed account, on the condition that you remaove all negative info regarding this account" I have a small account that I could use this on, Does anyone have any suggestions?? Thanks in Advance
I have tried this with many collection agencys. It has never worked with payments. I sent validations to all of them and a couple dropped off without a fight. But then others did send proof of my signature and that I owed the money. Others just ignored my letters eventhough I sent them all certified mail. We were trying to buy a house so I couldn't take years of fighting them. So we started paying the ones that wouldn't budge with a letter saying by taking this payment they agree to remove it from my credit report. I even had a couple of the collection agencys send back my payment with a letter saying that they would not agree to the terms since by law they had to report for 7 years. This is not true of course since it is "up to 7 years" on the credit report! They can take it off anytime they want. I wish I could say it worked. However what I did do was after paying I waited a few months and then disputed them with the credit bureaus and some of collections came off of my credit report. After they are paid, many of the collection agencys don't keep up as much. However, with some of them I had to settle for it being changed to paid on my credit report.

Thanks! That is exactly the situation I'm in right now in the process of dealing with a mortgage company. They suggested that I get rid of this bill from over 5 years ago. Oh well I will have to try some thing else, and see if I can get a fairly quick result.
