I had very bad credit and am still working on cleaning things up . I received an unsecured Orchard card a few years ago when my credit was still bad and defaulted becuase of really bad circumstances. The limit was $500 and the charge off amount is around $780. Has anyone been able to settle with an OC and then been able to get new credit with that OC. The debt has been sold to another company and I am awaiting to see if I get a response from the third validation letter so I can attempt to have it removed from my CR. I still don't have great credit and besides secured cards, Orchard is one of the few that give people in my situation a second chance. Not sure about third. Thanks in advance.
Honestly, your best bet is going to be getting a secured credit card. Is there any particular reason you're opposed to that? It will still help you build back your credit score and, as far as I know, it looks identical on your credit report. The other option would be to do some serious credit repair and hopefully boost your score well enough to qualify for a normal credit card again - if your credit score is high enough, Orchard should be willing to give you a card again regardless of your past offenses.
