I just can't wait to pay off all my debts to clean up my credit report and start a new life.

However, none of the collection agencies that I talked to are willing to delete the negative mark on my credit report, eventhough I accept to pay in full.

If I don't pay, it'll hurt me even more, so should I just go ahead and pay anyway?

Thank you much for your advice!

    Hold on....

PAYING those bills will not erase them, or change your score.

Another question is, did they do a proper validation: prove that you incurred the debt with your legal signature?

How old are these debts, what kind, and for how much?

I would not pay just yet until the answers are presented, then we can see if they're in the "right"

Have you considered "firing" the collection agencies and dealing only with the original creditor? Have you told them that it's the money, or the negative mark, their choice? I've learned this tends to get what you want pretty fast, because they mainly want money.

Paying will not hurt you more than paying....but it is largely counter productive if you don't get a deletion. If you try to get a car loan or mortgage, they will often insist that any outstanding collections be paid.

If the creditors won't budge on deletion and say 'it is illegal for us to delete correct information', tell them it isn't illegal not to respond to a verification from the CRA's. (so the account will be deleted once you dispute it with the CRA) If that fails, your last resort is to pay the account, and then dispute with the CRA's, hoping to get a delete.

That is exactly true! I got denied for a car loan cause I had an unpaid charge off for $125, which resulted in the car dealer shopping around for me, which resulted in a million hard inquiries.
