i have an approx. $6,000 left on a medical collection i am currently making payments on thru NCO. because this is such a large amount, and is showing as a collection, it is killing my credit score. is there anything i can do to get this removed? ive been making payments for the past few months, and unfortunately just paying it off in full isnt an option right now. i dont mind making the payments to pay it off, but i hate the fact that its on my credit report the whole time i am paying it off. any ideas?
did you agree to PFD? see if since you have been making payments regularly would they delete the tradeline now?
not sure what PFD is? from what i gather from this site, and my limited dealings with NCO, i cant imagine that they would delete the collection, even with my good payment history.

PFD = pay for delete...if you pay they agree to delete. did you ever DV them? even though you began paying them you can still send a debt validation letter to them if you haven't already. a paid collection makes no difference to FICO than an unpaid one. depending on what your goals are, you could stop paying, sent a DV and negotiate paying for them to delete the tradeline.
yes, i did a DV, couldnt really argue for the PFD, they were pretty cool about letting me make relatively small monthly payments, so the PFD was out of the question. i would really like to get this collection off my report though...
did they properly respond to the DV with something more substantial than an invoice? try a goodwill if you aren't up to fighting for the PFD. whatever you decide to do make sure you are the one calling the shots - not them.
I am kinda in the same boat, I DID send a DV before it hit my credit report. I got nothing back from them except a letter saying they got my request as I send it certified return recipt. I have to check but I think it is jsut at the 30 day mark and they never sent any sort of DV reply and this morning I see it hit my credit report. Any recourse here??? How do I fight this?
if a CA reports without validating that is considered "continued collection activity" under the FDCPA....or against the law.
