I am still learning so please excuse me if this is a dumb question - If I pay an OC for an account that has been transferred to a CA will the CA be required to remove the collection form my credit report after being notified by the OC that the debt has been paid? Or will they change the item to Paid Collection?

Search on pay to delete. That is the method you want to use if you want to pay the debt but have it gone from your CR also.
