Does paying on a credit account after it is charged off reset the 7 year timer to that date, or does it start from when you were last delinquent?

Paying a CO does not reset 7 yrs - it is from last delinquency.

Paying it does nothing to help you either.

Oh Im so mad! I just called Experian, and that guy was not telling the truth.

I disputed this account as not mine. Experian conatcted the OC and "verified" it as mine with a new date of 5/2003 (when it was 10/99). SO now instead of 7 years its going to be on my report for 11. That mankes no sense.

The guy on the phone was basiacally telling me that they "just report the information told to them by the OC and have nothing to do with it." And he told me that the account was current! This account has not been active since 1999. Im not sure what do. Maybe I should write a letter I dont like talking to these people.

Do you know where in the FCR it states the rules of the seven year timer and such?

Ok I called back again. The guy I talked to said that paying a debt after charge off does not reset the clock. I also told him flat out that I was disputing it, like I should have with the other guy. What amazes me is that people can get away with this BS.

That other guy just out an out lied to me. I wonder how many people that dont know any better that beleive these ass clowns!

As Ive gotten older I realized that many people dont know what they are talking about. So I hung up and called someone else, because I knew that guy was lying. Its taken me awhile to learn this but it is a valuable lesson. Sorry for the rambling, just had to let off some steam. =)

Elorra, did you see this? I'm glad you called back and got a nicer rep. They don't usually out and out lie. The ones I've spoken to are always courteous. If your account went delinquent in 1999 then you have 3 more years to go before it falls off legally. You can dispute it up until then and hope it falls off sooner.

Read the stickys at the top of the board. Many have been successful at disputing accurate information off. =)
