Remember the discussion about bill paying services? Well, I decided to try Paytrust (through American Express) and they really screwed things up. So a big head's up for those considering this. I signed up last week with 3 checking accounts and sent written authorization for each with voided checks. On one, per their directions by phone, I marked it as default. That afternoon, I received approval and went into the service only for them to have two accounts names I've never heard of (banks). I called and spoke to a guy and it turns out he was a nightmare. First, he changed the names and asked me to name them so I could differentiate. I did, specifically giving acct. #'s to match with the name. I then verified the acct. I wanted for default again. I made 3 payments from one account named "XXX-NanaC" Well, folks, this guy was a comedy of errors. He had marked the incorrect account as default despite written and oral confirmation, and he had named the two from the same back opposite of what we discussed so those 3 checks I paid from the XXX-NanaC were really coming out of XXX-hubby's account. I called last night to find out what happened and they said, nicely, it was rare this happened but confirmed all the errors. I immediately cancelled. So, a warning, they didn't follow written instructions and the phone rep, though nice, totally made a mess of things. I just happened to get lucky that it was caught and I could transfer money to the proper account to cover those checks! Whew Never again!!! UGH
