i have a paid medical collection sent nutcase no response

just noticed this moring on EQ CW it says

    Acct type: open account
    HC/CL $227
    Date Opened: not on record
Date of last activity : nov 98

    bal: $0
current status 120 + days past due

if i have paid this it should not be listed as an open account Right?
    so it is innaccurate
dont they have to post the date it was late?

There are several areas you should dispute, IMHO. First it is reporting as an open account. If paid, it should report as closed and have a statement that is is paid/settled or whatever. Also, if paid, the current status should not be 120 + days past due.

The fact that they say Date Opened: not on record is a dead giveaway that they likely don't have documentation to validate this account.

Did you pay this account? Does November 1998 sound right to you as the date of last activity?

All that being said, I would forget the nutcase letter and forget about it being paid (if it was) and start out with validation letters. If they say you can't dispute it because it was paid, you can always let them know you paid it because you didn't think you had a choice and now you know that you have legal remedies under the law don't have to pay something that was not yours and if they can not prove the account was yours and cannot show a complete accounting of all charges and payments, then they must remove the tradeline.

At the same time you are disputing with the creditor, you can also dispute with the CRA's as "not mine". Even if you had an account, technically what they are reporting is not your account because what they are reporting does not reflect the details of your account.

    JMHO...hope it helps!

This sounds like EQ; the 'open' means type of account, like 'installment'.
