I copied this from another webpage.....does this mean we can only collect a maximum of $1000.00, no matter the number of violations? http://www.uslaw.com/library/article/mzcollectorpenalties.html?area_id=11

"No law has much effect unless it provides for penalties when violations occur. The FDCPA provides some significant punishment for debt collectors who are found guilty of violating its provisions.

First, a debt collector who violates the FDCPA is liable for any actual damages you suffer as a result of his illegal actions. Actual damages might include loss of income (for example, if your boss fired you because the collector contacted you at work after you told him not to) and other financial loss that you can show was directly caused by the debt collector's actions.

You may also be entitled to other damages, such as punitive damages, up to a maximum amount of $1,000. And a debt collector may be required to pay your court costs and reasonable attorney fees."
