I have a charge off account with First USA. The account was sold several years ago. Looking at the trade line and inquiry page I noticed two things. 1. Late pay dates listed, but there are also 4 unknown dates listed. 2. In june of 2002, First USA pulled my credit report. Has anyone had anyluck with First USA? I would settle for deletion of the trade line. Does First USA have permissible purpose after they have sold the account? tix
Even though the account has been sold off, First USA can still do an account review. It only becomes "impermissible purpose" after the account has been paid and officialy closed or you haved filed for bankruptcy. I know you are anxious to get it deleted, but I would suggest strongly that you wait until November 24th to send your First USA dispute letters to the CRAs. You will have a far better chance of getting it deleted. I have read read several message from people who have had their First USA accounts deleted. It seems that if First USA still has your account it is more difficult to get it deleted, but once it has been transferred to someone else it is a lot easier to get it off your report. You are at an advantage in that your account was taken over by someone else several years ago. Good Luck!
It is FCRA violation to pull report without permissible purpose. If the FIRST USA has sold the account, then they do not have permissible purpose which is my understanding. If you try to settle they will forward the letter to the company who bought the account. In the CR, they may show as sold/charge off/transfered balance zero / 90 days late if any etc. However the new company can show the full balance for what you owed + interest +late fees.
I believe it's because of the Thanksgiving/ Christmas holidays making it harder for them to verify/answer inquiry within the required 30 day period.
IIIIIII Don't think so Stenwick. When they sell the account outright they sell all their rights to it. I don't think they have PP. Thing to do might be DanceRats trick. (lol) Write and tell them they are reporting incorrectly, but don't tell them why. They probably will pull an inq. then you have a violation. Use THAT as leverage to get deletion.
Butch They have already pulled my report. They pulled the report after selling the account. Since they had the account to begin with, do they have pp? tix
