If a cosigners name shows up on an account, can a CA pull their report to do a fishing expedition on me even if the account in question is NOT the joint account?

A CO-SIGNER agrees to pay if the other signer does not...

    [EDIT]

    I'm a little confused...

I am guessing you are a CO-SIGNER on another account TOTALLY UNRELATED TO THE CA...

    GUESSING...

You are a CO-SIGNER on say a car loan (PAID AS AGREED) and the other party you CO-SIGNED with has a CA for like SEARS...and you are NOT connected in any way to the SEARS account...

NO "PP" FOR SEARS CA TO FISH ON YOUR CREDIT REPORT!!!

"I will take $500 in 10 days and inquiry removal or I will see you in court in 30-90 days for $1,000 and inquiry removal.

Ok My girlfriend cosigned my car loan. It was paid off for some time BUT I have one account which is 6 months del. Can the CA pull her report cause they see her name on my report for a totally unrelated account?

Well, I'm 100% sure they did just that. What should I do about it if they are not allowed to do that?

Your girlfriend should drag their butts into small claims court for illegally obtaining her credit report. As George just mentioned--the minimum statutory penalty is $1,000.

Give them a $500 discount if they remove the inquiry and they send a check for $500 in 10 days...(WIN~WIN they save court time...you save court time...they save $500...you get $500 and inquiry removal)

    Hijacking post. Sorry.

    George:

Will most companies send the money and deletion or do you have to end up in court. I have 3 inquires that I know I did not do:
1.) Universal Card/CBSDN on 10/4/01 (just called, CS said there is nothing they could do. I have to send a letter to the dispute department.)

2.) Cross Country on 10/23/01 (collection agency has been calling about this on. it is not mine. they have a different SS number. Don't know how they pulled it in the first place. I just call Equ and was told it is gone. just pulled Privacyguard and it is still there. I send a letter a month ago to there fraud dpt requesting deletion but no money.)

3.) Regions Bank on 10/16/01 (once again no one can help me. i leave my number but no one calls back)

Thanks, I'll try it and see what I can get. I don't really want to go to court. Guess I need to just do it and get over my fears.

There is no way for someone pulling your credit report to see who a co-signer is. It could be your mother, father, wife, no one would ever know. So what you're thinking is wrong and they pulled her CBR for a completely different reason. There are 9 legal reasons for someone to pull your credit report and collection effort is one of them. Have you tried calling them to find out why they pulled hers?

That's not true. DH's Experian reports several joint accounts, and spell out my name as "Joint with jlynn".

Why bump a post that is over four years old? Just so you can hype your wares?
