How do you dispute personal info on Credit Expert? I don't see the normal "Request Investigation" button on the personal info screen. Has anyone found a way to do this?
CE used to do this but have since changed it a few months ago. I have had luck just writing a generic letter stating have never used that name, never lived there etc. and faxed it to them. A few days later all the info was removed.
Thanks Donna. I thought you used to be able to do this online. I did mine over the phone, I'm working on my wifes now. They have about 13 names and a bunch of addresses that are bogus...
I went into my local exp. office on 12/31 do get several incorrect addresses and uses of my name deleted. The morons there said they had to send it to the Phoenix office. Phoenix received it the same day. I called yesterday to ask why the incorrect items had not been deleted yet and was told they have to do an investigation and will take 30 days. Who the hell are they going to verify this with? How about the person that should know. ME!
Pat, you are able to dispute directly over the phone? Did you call the bureaus? I too have several SSN's on my credit report. Many off by a number or tow. Two totally unrecognizable. BTW what do they do to validate personal informaiton? Are they able to determine which of thier subscribers reported the information?
I am having this same problem as well. I spoke with an Equifax rep today after my address changed to my former address for the 5th time. I was told that I had to change my address with my creditors for it to stop happening. Apparently they will take what your creditor is reporting for your address over what you tell them.
Yes, when I first started my repair journey, I called TU and EX and disputed my incorrect names and addresses over the phone. They didn't verify or validate anything. They made the changes and sent me a new CR. Equisux made me go through their local affiliate, who wouldn't accept the dispute on the phone. I had to mail it in. They removed them without a fight. I didn't have wrong SSN's. Just name variations and addresses that were wrong. So I can't tell you what it would take to dispute these. I also don't think they keep track of which subscriber reports what.
I just called them (Experian) up and told them everything that was wrong and they fixed it and within a week, they sent me a new updated CR with all the changes and deletions. It was very simple. Good luck. I had about 20 different names, six or seven different addresses... and they didn't question any of it. They just deleted.
