I PFB'ed Mr. Cooke a week ago and have not heard back yet. I know he can be busy and it might take a while so I have a question.

I have a charge-off with Cap One that I want to settle. I know the account has been turned over to a CA because they sent me a letter last month but they are not reporting it yet. Has anyone negotiated charge-offs with Cap One that have been turned over to a CA? I could go the vaildation route with the CA but I am pressed for time on this. At the same time, I don't want to waste my time waiting for a call if Cap One is just going to direct me to the CA.

Anyone have any experience with this?

I think you're screwed if the account is already with a CA. Cap1 is contractually obliged after turning over. However, Mr. Cooke has worked miracles for others, including me. Have you tried calling him?

I haven't tried calling yet. Was thinking of doing that tomorrow. I'm just worried I'll be waiting for a call for 2 weeks just to find out I have to pay the CA. I'm not sure what to do but think I will give the call a try.

    Thanks.

    Donna...

I'd suggest you PFB'ing him a letter first. Give him time to review your situation. By simply calling him, he'll probably need to review your account anyways, and won't be able to give you an answer.

I have a similar situation. I PFB'd Capital One and Mr. Cooke on the 12th and got a return e-mail the next morning stating that someone would be contacting me soon to discuss the situation. My account went to a CA (the dreaded NCO), but I think Cap One would not have responded to me if they weren't going to try to work with me. At least, that is what I am hoping anyway.

Mindcrime - I did PFB so I am still waiting to hear back. Should I send another? TSaul received a return email from them but I haven't received anything at all. Is that normal?

    Donna,

I've sent PFB'ed off a couple of ltrs to Mr Cooke. Once I got an auto-reply, the other time I did not. Both times he called me back. Give him at least 3 or 4 business days to respond to you. I believe someone on the board said they spoke with him early this week and that he was on a mini-vacation the week before and had some work to catch up on.

    Mindcrime,

That may explain why I hadn't heard anything. I was worried because I had PFB'ed 8 days ago and didn't receive an auto reply though most here said they did. I decided just to leave him a voicemail today and mention that I had PFB'ed and was not trying to be impatient just worried that my letter had not gotten to him. I called him at 4:00 and he called me back an hour later. He is just as nice as everyone says.

    Thanks for the advice guys.

Mr. Cooke - Great Capital One Exec!

He is a nice guy too! He just bumped me another $1000 - now I am at a $4900 limit with Cap One.

Aarrfff - he also saw in his notes where we had spoken before about a year back LOL!

It took about 10 days - then we missed each other on voicemail a couple of times.

    Best regards - Dogman

I just sent Capital One a PFB - COMMENDING Mr Cooke! I'm sure he does not get many "thank-you" emails - or commendations to his boss for his excellent work as Consumer Advocate.....

    best regards - Dogman
