Cha-Ching! $1000 settlement. But you didn't get him in court, technically...

Actually no settlement today sorry to burst your bubble. I never said it was illegal to accept it. I never said anything about lying about the reason not to accept it. I just said it doesn't make sense to accept it from my chair. I'm perfectly aware of what to tell a debtor why I wont take their offer.

Never said you did say that - you have plenty of co-workers and compatriots who do. All it takes is one cowboy collector and one knowledgeable consumer and a lawsuit is born.

I certainly encourage a suit against them, I'm not part of them, so have at it.

If anyone would litigate over someone calling a PFD illegal, they would have to be stupid. That is not enough . . . and yes, I know the FDCPA is strict liability. However, that matters little in the real world.

Let's not encourage people to institute civil actions for dubious claims.

I didn't necessarily mean for calling a PFD illegal, I meant for any violation that warrants it.

I see. I'm just trying to stem the calls for frivilous lawsuits and making a statement which has been referenced herein would be just that.
