My DH has not lived with his parents for over 15 years but for some reason I believe he has some collection agency trying to reach him at his parents. They call every day right about 11 a.m. and his brother, dad or mom tell the person(male and female) who calls he does not live there. But they continue to call back daily and do not leave any sort of contact info so my in-laws could even send them a letter to get them to stop calling. For over two weeks, my in-laws have told the person calling they have the wrong number but they still call every day. My in-laws live in a rural area so they can't get any anonymous call blocks or caller i.d. Now when they call and are told wrong number, the person who calls says "tell him Sugar Daddy called", or something else stupid. Obviously a telemarketer would have given up so this is probably a collecter from some scum CA. Short of changing their number, any other advice? I just feel bad that my in-laws have to put up with it.
Maybe the only cure would be to unplug the phone for about an hour each night say from 10:30 to 11:30 and maybe after they go to bed at night for a while. Or maybe instead of telling them that he don't live there anymore tell the caller that they will call him to the phone and then just put the phone down and leave it off the hook until they get a dial tone or the phone starts beeping and telling them they need to hang up the phone. I really don't know of any solutions other than that.
That or let them listen to a small transistor radio turned up loud to a rap station for a while. I kind of like your whistle idea because they could blow the whistle real loud into the phone a few times and then tell them he will hear that for sure and then blow it a few more times and then ask them if they are still there. (LOL)
I forgot about the whistle. They recommend that for prank calls. My FIL is getting so tired of telling them "wrong number", "he doesn't live here", etc. They obviously don't have a brain because after a month of "wrong number" you should give up. So I am going to stop by the sporting goods store today and get a big whistle for them!
