I currently have Blue, but I was thinking of converting this to Amex's Platinum Cash Rebate Card because I would receive back a cash back of 1% of my total purchases. Any benefits to this? The interest rate is higher on the Cash Rebate card then on Blue's, but I don't carry a balance on Amex so this is no big deal. Would anyone suggest keeping Blue or should I convert the account (if Amex will let me). Thanks for any input. Dani
trade, I don't know if they will let you... Why don't you try to get it "PRE-APPROVED"... Sign on to AMEX BLUE... Click on "ACCOUNT SERVICES"... Apply for a card...4th one down... Click on "I'M ALREADY A CARD MEMBER" (log in now)... Id and password... Click GO... Click on PLAT CASH BACK... Click on "ACCEPT PRE-APPROVAL"...2/3 on left... NOT REALLY "PRE-APPROVED"...BUT IT IS BETTER CHANCES THAN NON-ACCOUNT HOLDERS... I WAS DENIED THE CARD "PRE-APPROVED"... BT is 3.90% for 6 months..."GO-TO" is SKY-HIGH don't carry a balance...
I would only recommend converting to the Cash Rebate card if you're planning to put all or most of your charges on that card because you only get the full 1% if you charge over a certain amount. It works just like Discover. I actually stopped using Discover because of this and I'm currently using my Chase Platinum iCard as my cash back card (full 1% back on all purchases, no minimum, no yearly limit).
You CAN convert your Blue to a Cash Rebate. But if you're looking for a rewards card, the Stawoord Platinum is Amex's best, IMHO. Saar
