okay I am now sitting here in tears. I was jsut denied a secured card.
I didn't even think that was possible , I gave them the $500.00 to hold against the card...how can i possibly be deined I am seriously freaking out.

my credit scores are 580. I am about to jsut pay someone to fix my credit. I am afaird I will validate something on accident. Mine validations are differnet becuase I have already admitted the debt is mine becuase I paid the collections. So...my debt program gives me $150.00 towards credit restoration when I am finsihed with program (end of month). I might just go that way I don't think I have it in me anymore to fight with these people...I am getting to worked up and frustrated about the bureaucracy of it all......any advive...encouragement....anything.
    sincerely, erin

HEllo, thank you both for replying. The collections look like this on my report:
    there are 4 (-) tradelines:
2 of them say account legally settled for less than feull balance
and 2 of htem are listed as charge off with a balance becuase I haven't settled them yet....they will be settled on 3/24/04.

does anyone know if it is possible to even get a secured card anywhere if you have accounts in collections? or do they have to be paid off? I don't want to apply for another one , credit pulled, lower score even more!!

thanks for looking and even more for replying!

have not disputed, was advised that if I dispute htem it would be a "waste of time" becuase the papertrail is proabbly so long between credit companies and collections. any advice. I am so confused if i am supposed to dispute with OC or the collections agency?

    Hi,

I'm relatively new at this but whoever told you disputing was a waste of time, told you wrong.

Follow the instructions on this site and you can/will be able to get these things taken care of. Probably paying significantly less than you owe, or nothing AND deletion of the tradelines from your CR.

Look at the letters section. Start with CRA, then send validation request to OC or CA. Then play hardball with them. Chances are they will slip up along the way.

DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY MORE INFORMATION THAN THEY NEED AND NEVER ADMIT THE DEBTS BELONG TO YOU. Even if you settle make sure you get a deletion AND inform them that you are NOT admitting liability for the debt. You are only paying to have the item(s) removed from your credit file.

Don't feel bad, I was just denied for a Secured card from Bank of America! I gave them my check and their reason was (I have a charge off on my TU)

If you want a secured card, I recommend Plains. I have a 300 dollar one and they report to all 3 CRA's every month.

They do hold checks for 10 days that are over 100 bucks which is a pain in the ass, but other than that, they are cool. Payments are FREE unlike First Premier
