FIRST PLEASE PRAY for those poor souls in the war zones. They all went to heaven and feel no pain and are now reunited happily with other family members that had awaited their arrival - with no pain and nothing but a lovely existence. OKAY Hope, you sent out a message below which I read. It has 97 responses but I will read them. In San FRAN (1:19pm PST) - our city is in "limited" emergency status. All public buildings are closed, downtown has been evacuated, Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf are deserted. The city is locked down. Get this - the Coast Guard has surrounded the Golden Gate Bridge on both sides and the same for the Oakland Bay Bridge. I live on the top point in SF - I have a great view of downtown. I have looked to my left and seen military jets circling the area. ONLY San Francisco proper is on lockdown. San Jose, Silicon Valley, are not as tight as dead on downtown San Francisco. I hope my view remains. I have spent much of the day instant messaging my customer friends in Virgina. They are all OK, one lives just 3 miles from the Pentagon. Now - will you all please let me know you all with your families or together with the important people? RONI - were you affected by this? I do not know how far things are in NY/NJ area? Check in friends-warming thinking of all of you DOG
Spent the five minutes in silence, and also read the Bible. (1 Corinthians 15, about the resurrection of the body.) Seems so horrible to think of actual death, not just fantasy death, but the Bible offers hope that the resurrection is real as well, and not just a fantasy. Dogman, this reminds me of the 1989 "World Series" earthquake. I was working in San Ramon when it hit, and we got sent home for the night. Someone said the Bay Bridge had collapsed, and I was relieved that only one segment had actually gone down. No such relief today, as the buildings really have collapsed and the casualties are a thousand times worse. Take care. I'll pray for your safety, and for the City as well, which I love. RichGuy
Having been in all three of those buildings within the past year, as well as having friends who work there everyday, let me say that this is an awfull day. I have a good friend in particular who is a Secret Service agent who literally guards an elevator in the Pentagon. He always says how boring his job is- if he only knew then. There is still a lot of confusion going on- we still don't know the fate of a lot of our people. I feel awfull for all those involved and their families, and I hope the best for them. As far as the cowards who did this, may you pay, and pay severely. Shawn
Under normal circumstances, I feel that the board is a place to exclusively discuss credit issues. Today is of course not normal. Therefore... L.A. is locked down tight. The downtown streets that typically contain 1.5 million workers are deserted. Public transportation is working and the police are present but it is eery. Let's hope everyone on the board and their loved ones are safe. I am a devout Catholic man who attends Mass nearly every day. I always pray for my deceased family and friends before and during Mass. Today, I will join the rest of you in praying for the terrorist victims. Jim
Hi Dogman. I was affected by this unfortunately. I have many homies on NYC. I talked to both last night and both were in this tragedy today (unfortunately worked in the towers). My girlfriend walked to QUEENS (for some dumb reason..... and now cant get back home. My man was injured in all this mess. I have limited information on him but he left word that he is alive and a phone number but of course I cant get through to it. All in All I feel 110% better than I did this morning at 8:55. They closed the Ben Franklin Bridge in NJ/PA so I had to leave work at 10:30 to make it home. Then I had to wait. No phone calls into NYC worth a damn. As for the military, I will have to wait and see if my Medical unit gets activated. Who knows. My other friends in NYC (about a dozen) are all screwed now, I am sured. They are probably stuck and I cant even reach them. I couldnt even get thru to my Mother... But I am sure she did go into the city today.
This is such a tragedy, I have been watching and waiting all day. My SIL is in New York and so far we haven't heard anything yet, not sure if she was there when this happened or in route back home. When I first heard the news this morning while driving my children to school I thought my god how could this happen to innocent people their poor families, after I got home my phone was ringing off the hook telling me about my husband's sister. I do hope we hear something very soon.
I'm here teaching at a university that is literally in the shadow of Los Angeles International Airport. All is calm around here, although the campus is in virtual lockdown. The streets surrounding LAX are completely blocked. Hope all is well with all here. My thoughts and prayers are with you all and your loved ones.
Hey Dogman! Just checking in as you requested. This by far is the saddest day in history. My thoughts and prayers go out to all. All is well down here in Silicon Valley. I woke up this morning in absolute shock. My girlfriend missed her flight in Denver (thought it left at 7:45am but really 7:08am) and she said the airport was a mess. Luckily she was able to bob and weave and get a rental car to drive back to the Bay. It cost a fortune. I'll call her on her cell in a few. They closed down Valley Fair mall (2 minutes from my house). I'll be going to get my boys from school in just a few.
I am physically ill from this tragedy....my prayers are with every one of you on this board who has loved ones involved, with everyone who lost loved ones, and with our great nation. God bless America! And God bless our President in this terrible time, along with all our leaders.
I just tried to call nave and got the fast busy signal, so no go. I e-mailed him and asked him to call me to let me know he is ok. I am really worried. No word is not ok with me.
We still have not heard ANYTHING about my sister in law yet, this seems like the longest day in my life. I certainly hope someone hears from Nave.
FInally got through to nave, but got the machine. I left a message. Hope he's having a few brews like Breeze said.
Hi everyone....I'm just checking in. FINALLY got in touch with my mom. She was in the bldg when the first plane crashed. All she can remember is someone grabbing her hand and running. No major injuries. Just some sore legs and feet. She had to walk ALL the way home. I'm glad God has bought all of you and your families to safety. My prayers goes out to all of those who are still missing, and their families. Where are you Nave? Please check in. I'm praying for you as well.
