Yes they have came back. Both my kids (7th and 1st grades) had duck and cover drills today. We also practiced some home safety drills at our apartment.
We have special drills where the students hide behind my desk and under the computer tables at teh front of the room, I lock the doors and windows, close the blinds! Previously, I taught in a school with no doors, walls, or windows...I feel safer now!
Thanks all for the concern. I had several friends amazingly avoid their trips to the Pentagon (one a JAG lawyer on temporary guard duty for 2 weeks starting YESTERDAY). I drive by it (right next to it) on 395 daily. I did not do so today. No premonition just didn't go. Supposed to tomorrow, most likely will cancel. So far all those I know who had potential visits to there have reported ok. It is late here and I have just been able to get back to my apartment after helping out of town friends, giving blood, and dealing with several traffic hindrances (to say the least) although as of now DC is eerily silent and vacant of traffic. Most of the bars restaurants and stores are closed and the ones that are open have few customers most of which are strandees of sorts. Many bomb scares I still have no clue if they are valid such as the State Department car bomb and the old Executive offices of the White House smoke I saw. Hey guys...All is well with me and the family...Unfortunately, I flew to San Fran from DC on Sunday for business..so no way to get home...but that is pretty trivial at this point. My wife and children are in the DC area, but are okay -- as is my family in NY. Did have a cousin that was there and basically watched the entire thing happen..she is extremely shaken, under medication, but okay in other respects... My prayers go out to all family members and friends of the lost and injured!
