I would think my score would be higher, no derogs, and using 35% of my credit limits. Please let me know what you all think I could do to raise my score. I just had my last derog(judgement) get vacated, I sent in the cert'd order and so far only TU has removed it, it should be removed from the others within days. I would have thought my score would have shot into the 700s with it removed... What stands out to me right away is the length of time your installment accounts were open. You have 10 month history, 7 month history and 19 month history. I think you will see an increase when your Americredit account hits the one year mark and don't pay it off until it at least hits the 2 year mark. If possible, get your utilization down to 10%. Also, do you have many inquiries? That could be bringing down your score.
The 7 month one was a new truck I had bought it got totaled, I waited to buy another one because I had a backup car. The new one is my newest car. Im getting hit pretty hard for interest, if I refinance will it basically start the clock again for an installment loan? Should I wait until it hits a year to refinance? 8 inquiries in the last 2 years. 5 are within 2 days of each other when the dealer shopped my loan, 2 are for utilities and 1 is from my mortage company recently, I got prequalified for my first house so we are househunting.
Re: Re: Please Eval my Score 691 17.5% and FL I had just moved here and changed careers so that was the best I could get.
Re: Re: Please Eval my Score 691 Check your local credit unions - i can't see why you would have over 10%. Hell, about a year ago i had similar scores and got 4.4% through my credit union.
Re: Re: Please Eval my Score 691 I agree with jenz. Your short history is probably keeping your scores down. And, I also advise checking with a credit union, or even a small local bank if there is one near you. You want a place where you talk to someone, not someplace that is only automated.
Re: Re: Re: Please Eval my Score 691 I'll check with some credit unions, Do you have to join them to get a loan through them? When I got the car my scores were 650ish, new to FL, 1 week on the job.
Re: Re: Re: Please Eval my Score 691 there are usually requirements - you have to live in a certain county or work for a specific company/industry. usually you can give them your fico and they can quote you a rate before pulling credit. i was hoping you were in Minnesota - i have a non-fico based CU that i refer people to quite a bit.
Re: Re: Re: Please Eval my Score 691 Yes, you have to join, which means you must qualify for membership somehow. Like jenz said, it could be where you work, live, an organization you belong to, etc. Joining usually means qualifying for membership and opening a savings account where you keep at least $5.
