I have 2 problems. One, I had 2 cards with first premier and they went into collection. I negoatiated w/ CA and paid both less than the full amount w/2 EFTs in Feb. They had reported to Ex that one paid in full/was 180 d late. The other settled less full amount/ was 180. Then in May, they decided to replay one of the accounts on Ex. I asked why and they said the CA told them the 2 efts came back insufficient funds. BS is the response from my bank. I asked an attorney and he said to send them the conformation letters from the CA and my bank statement Certified mail. How long after they sign do I give them to correct this before I file a suit? Second, I have several accounts that report several different entries, when I only had 1 account. all of them have the was collection/was past due/ was charge off. Even the ones I have/about to pay off are open/current/ was collection/was past due/was charge off. I thought of hiring Lexington law firm to help me to remove these. Is this wise? Can I actually get them completely removed? Sorry about all the questions. I am flustrated. Thanks for any help or advice.
I wish I could, but I cannot answer all your letter, but here goes what I can answer: I would be very careful sending them your bank statements. If you really have to, black out everything, including account numbers, and send a copy to them. Even better, get a letter from the bank stating that you have paid this. I made this mistake a long time ago, and Bank One tried to debit my account 1 year after I had settled for a smaller amount. I ended up closing the checking account to keep them out of it. That was my Pre-Creditnet days. Wise is not the amount leaving out of your wallet. They are very pricey. Seriously, you were 'wise' enough to find this board, so you know you can do your credit repair yourself. I can understand if you don't have time, but, you can do it!!!!!! Please do not make me start preaching I hope this little helps, and even if it doesn't, at least I got your post moved back up to the top. Good luck......................
Thanks. I understand how to now negotiate w/CA or better OC. How can I get them to change/remove the negative listing when i have already paid in full or will pay in full in the next month or two? I have the impression that if the info is not actually bogus. it cannot be removed. Are creditors actually this forgiving that they will remove a negative account once paid, even if it really was in collection? Who is the better party to contact, the OC or CA? I have read many other posts and some say sent a dispute form, some say do not send these forms because they will flag you as trying to fix your credit and will screw you more. By the way, would it not illegal for a Credit reporting agency making your credit worse, just because you may have pissed them off? I keep reading that and I am curious. Thanks for the post. Thanks for the pocketbook advice. If I am in debt, I definitely do not want to spend more than necessary.
Breathe, because this is long........ You can write them a letter and ask for deletion upon payment. I don't know if it is too late. You can try to get them to valadate, but I am wondering if it will be easy since you have been paying, and they are yours, and the amounts are correct? Here is a link that I think will help: http://a1248.svwh.net/BoardFAQ.htm It is the FAQ from this site. I am a little rusty with vaildation beause the stuff I needed to get rid of was about 5 and 6 years old and I just disputed everything as 'not mines'. I am not recommending you do this, I was just telling you what I did I have heard this too, and I used my own letter. Basically I copied one from a site online, and modified it to say that the items were not mine. This was before Creditnet, and the letters on this site are far superior to what I could ever write. I have never thought of that!!!!!. Of all the information I have on Junum I have never heard of that. I found this board while looking for information on Junum. In fact, I had the money and was ready, but something held me back. That is why I am such a big advocate of this board and doing it yourself. This board is a lifesaver, and the best thing since bread, AND money. O.k. Not money, but close!!!!!!! Thank you. I am a BIG advocate of saving money. Good luck..........
I was reading my post and saw I answered this thinking you had said 'Credit repair agencies.' SORRY. Yes it is illegal, and they can be sued for it. The FAQ will help you. Again, sorry about that..........
