O.k heres the deal. I paid a 300.00 dentist bill that to CA that was reporting this tradeline on my TU only. It was my only bad left on my TU and the other CRA are clean. Well I pull my credit report today and it is still showing placed for collection on TU which was no surprise seeing I only paid it about a month ago and know it takes some time for the CA to update w/ the CRA. What my goal was for paying it was to just put it as a paid collection on my TU report because I am going for a home morgage and wanted to resolve this ASAP. TU and TU only was reporting this but today I look and EX now has it reporting as a payed collection. My EX was totally clean and my fico was up around 800 and now it took a dive because of this. TU was what I thought would be up dated to show payed collection and NOT all of a sudden report something to the other CRA's who weren't reporting this tradeline at all. Can they do this?? And what can I do to fix this problem?? Any violations?? Thanx much guys and gals. dubs66 P.s. I hope this expains my situation clearly enough
It is possible that the CA had previously reported to EX, BUT for some reason EX suppressed their reporting (the address or some other detail provided by them may not have matched, etc.-- in which case when you requested validation, and/or made the payment, they would be able to update their records to show exactly what EX is showing, and when they submitted the PAID notation update, viola; it matched.) There is also nothing precluding them from reporting to all three CRAs even if they have only been reporting to one. They could conceivably begin reporting at six years eleven months, and as long as they report the DOLA correctly (so that it deletes after that one remaining month of the reporting time-frame) they could try to report it.
Possible but this bill was from 1999 and all of my info except for my name and ss# have changed so them finding a match on me after over 5 years seems a little unlikely but I guess it would be still possible I just have a hard time beliving this is the case. This little report to EX sunk my fico about 100 points just like that so if anyone has had any luck or info on how to handle this I would be grateful. Thanx dubs66
You provided the answer in the reply... All your information except for your name and SS # changed. That is most likely why EX didn't post the trade line before, the name and SS # may have matched when submitted, but the address wasn't being reported to the legit address, and they giving you the benefit of the doubt, suppressed the trade line. When you requested validation, and/or paid, did your payment check/money order, etc have your current address information? If that was the only thing that EX was suppressing the trade line because of, the CA most likely would have updated their contact information for you when they processed the payment, and now the information matches what is on EX's system. If the CA used any verbiage like correct your credit history, or the ilk, you may be able to nutcase them to see if they will delete the trade line. You relied on the good faith belief that correct your credit history meant that they would delete the collection from your credit reports; not harm your credit reports by reporting to credit reports that they previously had not been reporting to.
