I worked for a summer in Ocean City, Maryland, where, my friend, after we left for summer, did not pay off the electricity bill as he had agreed to my OC. This OC is Delmarva Power. This is reported to all three credit agencies. In Experian, it is reported as (Account Name: COMM SVC/DEL MARVA POW,Account Type: Collection Department / Agency / Attorney, Type of Business: Other Collection Agencies, Balance: $111, Balance Date: May 25, 2000 and Payment Status: Seriously past due date / assigned to attorney, collection agency, or credit grantor's internal collection department). In Equifax, the creditor is listed as COMMERCE SERVICE COR, and in TransUnion, it is listed as CONECTIV FKA DELMARVA PWR DE. All other information is about the same.

Please, experts, help me get this off my credit report. Any way of getting this off my report would be appreciated, but I would like to pay this amount to the OC for peace of mind.

Ok start by getting all three of the credit reports and then go online and start disputes/investigations. The dispute should be "Not Mine" or "No Knowledge" Then sit and wait for 30 days and see what happens. It should just fall off, if not try, try again. Do not pay this back! Here is what happens if you do-----it will stay on your credit for 7 more years.

Thank you for your reply, bsutton21.

I have an issue here though. The collection agency is reported as COMMERCE SERVICE COR in my credit report. When I search bbb's site, it gives me two different companies - one in Norwalk, CA and another in Cincinnati, OH. I don't know which one to send the dispute latter to.

Otherwise this is what I will do then right - Send a registered mail to COMMERCE SERVICE COR disputing the account as not mine, if they can't validate, send letters to CRAs, and keep doing this until the CA violates something.

    Thanks for your time.

Try taking your dispute to the credit bureau 1st and see what happens. If it comes back verfied then send validation 2 both companies.

The CRA must provide you with the contact information of someone reporting a TL on your report
