Can anyone provide any help as to how I would get paid collections/paid chargeoffs off of all 3 of my credit reports? I went through a debt settlement agency to get 90% of my debts paid off. Which I did Yeah. But now they are on my credit report as paid chargeoff/paid collections. The debt settlement company tried to get the creditors to agree to remove their accounts from the credit report but only 1 agreed. These accounts are all about 2-3 years old. Should I write each individual creditor and try to appeal to them? I have been using Lexington to dispute the items but they have been mildly successful. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks P.S. One of my creditors reage my account after I paid them off. I read that this is illegal because it should still state the original date of delinquency not the date of last activity. Who did you go thru for the debt settlement? (sorry, I know that's not helpful to you, but hopefully someone else will see this & offer some advice) perhaps validation may help you? hopefully they lost all the paperwork at some point proving you owed the debt -
Once you've paid them it is difficult to negotiate with creditors because your only leverage is that you have their money, LOL. I think at this point you just have to dispute them, and they really are too new for it to be easy. You need a few of the tricks - I haven't been through this, but others here have. Perhaps some of them will post their techniques.
Just dispute the crapola out of it. See, now I have a similar problem. I disputed a collection as paid before it even went to collections and now the CRA changed it to a paid collection. Now I have THAT headache to deal with. I will give you a guess as to which CRA it was, and the first 2 don't count. AND also.....TIS THE SEASON FOR DISPUTING.........fa la la la la LOL I kill me...
