I just received my experian report and would like your opinion on my strategy to clean it up. I was discharged from BK on 10-2001 so I don't know it is even helpful to dispute some of this items. Please let me know.

    Experian Report: 10/29/2003

    Items to fix:

    The Furniture King
Not Included in Bankruptcy (Long Story)
    Date Opened 9-2000
    Reported Since 10-2000
    Date of Status 2-2003
    Date last reported 1-2003
Past Due 90 days. $653 balance. I am sending a validation letter to them.

    Assoc/Citi
    Date Opened 11-1993
    Reported Since 6-1998
    Date of Status 7-2001
    Date last reported 5-2003
30 days as of 6/2001. Included in Bankruptcy. Charged off. Should I notify CRA as "never late"?.

    Bank One-OHIO
    Date Opened 9-1995
    Reported Since 9-2002
    Date of Status 9-2002
    Date last reported 1-2003
$959 past due as of 1-2003. Account Charged Off. Does not say "Included in Bankruptcy". Verified 9-2002. What should I do?

    HB Compusa
    Date Opened 7-1995
    Reported Since 9-1995
    Date of Status 10-2002
    Date last reported 10-2002
Paid/Current, was past due 30 days. Verified 4-2003. What should I do? Should I send validation letter to Compusa for this?

    NCO Financial SVCS
    Date Opened 8-2001
    Reported Since 9-2002
    Date of Status 9-2002
    Date last reported 10-2003
Collection Account. $201 past due as of 10-2003. Should I send a validation letter?

    Toyota Motor Credit
    Date Opened 3-2000
    Reported Since 4-2000
    Date of Status 6-2001
    Date last reported 9-2001
    Bankruptcy/Voluntarily Surrendered
30 days as of 5-2001. I am planning to notify CRA it was 'never late'.

thanks for your help. Even though I am new to these forum, I have read and learned a lot in the last few weeks and I have searched the posts looking for tips. Hopefully posting this is ok.

You don't say if you've already disputed these as "not mine". If you haven't, that's a first step. Don't dispute all at once, try submitting one a week. Online is great for first pass.

You may get a few to drop off that way. If you've done that already, try validation w/the OC and then dispute w/CRA. There are threads here about this, search for "OC" or "original" and "validate".

Before you say you were never late, and essentially admit the account was yours, try the validation route.
