I really need help with the NCS ones there are so much things on my credit report from this place. It will almost be 7 years for the NCS accounts so what should I do? i havent contacted any of these CA at all. Thank you to anyone who can help
I really don't know about traffic tickets these are another animal all together from regular credit issues. I think you are going to need to pay these. You can try to negotiate, but I am not sure if the court will be accommodating, in this regard. Thing about banks is if you get listed in the Chex System - all of the banks can black list you from opening a checking account - unless you go with a non-check system bank. Return checks can be turned over to the state for collection, and they can take you to court for these. If you don't think they are all correct amounts you can try to get a hold of the bank to dispute the matter. Usually credit accounts have a statute of limitations, but I think this is different, I am not sure, but you might need a lawyer to advise you on how to handle all of these accounts. I am really surprised there is not a warrant out there some where on you. That is why I say you might want a lawyer to check on that for you. I remember someone stole my sister's checks and ran them up over a certain amount, and sure enough there was a warrant out for her. She didn't even know it and they picked her up.
thanks for the response. As far as I know, there is no warrant out on me. Also on my credit report, there was nothing under the courts and judgement section. On the returned checks items, it is from the "vendor" that i bought something from, and not from the bank.
From my experience it is not often that a court will report tickets to the credit reporting agencies. So you may be lucky there. Even if it was not a bank, a vendor could of turned the checks over to a lawyer to be processed. I can't remember the cut off amount before the case can be turned over to the court, police. Problem with checks is once you bounce one, usually on the bank end, it is a domino effect. Usually one defaulted check affects any other checks at the same time that were out. So if that was not the case for you, again you got lucky there. I use to work for a credit bureau, and I did not handle the check issue, that my ex-boss handled, and in our area the court / police were setting up to report bounced checks. It was a new trend at the time, but that has been more then 6 years ago now.
I have been pulled over by the police about 2 weeks ago and the officer did not arrest me so i have no warrants out. I just find it funny that it hasnt been turned over to the legal system because i have read that it will happen. Regardless i want to pay it off. If i call them and arrange payments, will they extend the date of opening so that the items will not be removed after the 7 years? thanks again
I would say that the original period when these events took place back 2004 period - reporting for the credit reporting agency only goes 7 years. And reporting for the Chex credit report only goes 5 years. You are well beyond that, and if you so see something on the credit report you can dispute it, and file a complain with the Federal Trade Commission. Maybe even the Attorney General's office. The police department keeps meticulous records, I don't see them doing that. I really think you are fine on that count. since collection agencies are handling some of these accounts, maybe you can negotiate settlement. Try to get the cost down as low as you can.
So how should i initiate contact with NCS? should i call and try to negotiate with them to get the tradeline removed? I if pay everything in full will it affect the 7 year cycle of having the tradeline removed?
Keep all correspondence in writing, and ask them to forward you a correct balance owed. Credit Reports are only accurate to the last time the company updated the credit reporting agency. Some collection agencies just initially add the items, and never update them. So if you pay ask them to update, or delete. You accounts are from around 2004 time period so most of them should come off of the credit report next year. You might try to dispute them sooner to see if you can get them removed. Be sure to keep back copies of your credit reports for your records. I recommend 7 years or more. And when you write to the collection company - be sure to send all letters by certified mail / return receipt requested.
