Hi! I recently sent a validation to a CBM for a Qwest Cell account. They have been sending letters since 2001. I had a cell phone and a land line with Qwest. They incorrectly charged me roaming in non-roaming areas and I disputed payment for that and paid what I really owed and, of course, my land line bill. In December of 2001 I got a collection letter from CBM with a 30 day mini-m and a dola of October 2001 and I replied disputing the validity of the debt and sent a copy of the credit balance refund that Qwest had issued me in December 2001. (I still have these documents) In January 2002, I got behind on my land line bill and Qwest sent me a disconnection notice if I did not pay. The balances included the cell and the land line. I paid ONLY the $22 for the land line to keep my phone from being cut off, because I still dispute the cell charges (I still have these documents too) Anyway, I get a package back from CBM with a stack of my phone bills from 2001 and a note stating that this is the second copy they have sent (bs) and Qwest willl verbally verify the balance. They also say that I paid Qwest $22 toward this account in February of 2002, when I actually paid it specifically to the land line account. I think they are trying to say that since I paid that I have accepted the debt?? I am about to draft another letter stating that I have already sent them proof, etc. What is the right course of action for this?
LuckyMom, Be sure to study this thread. http://consumers.creditnet.com/straighttalk/board/showthread.php?s=&postid=317495#post317495
Ah, I was just reading that thread! lol I'll also go read the "What is Validation?" thread... Those two should go to the FAQ, IMO. Thank you! Oh, I just found their "first" validation: it is a short note that says "Qwest has verified this debt and you do owe this balance."
I am also having a dispute with Qwest. I have never seen a less responsive company in my life. Nevertheless, my response when they said the same thing to me was "I don't owe it until a Judge says I owe it."
OT: Another little rant about Qwest I would never use them again, except for the fact that they are the ONLY phone service in our area. This is kind of funny, I am in collections with this cell phone deal, right, but they call all the time to try to offer me the cell phone deal AGAIN because I'm such a good customer. lol I have the most basic of basic $9/mo service to keep from paying any more money than I have to and I pay my phone bill quarterly, not exacty a "good" customer. Sales quotas, heh.
OT: Another little rant about Qwest Wait till they bill you $75.00 for returned check fees on bounced photo copies like Ameritech did me!
Re: Re: OT: Another little rant about Qwest Do a search on me: I've told about it 2 or 3 times over the years.

Naturally they bounced there as they weren't real checks. The phone companies bank returned all 5 of them to the phone company. When the phone company got them back from their bank they added five returned check fees of 15 dollars each for a total of 75 bucks on my next phone bill. This issue was never corrected by the phone company. ========= ====== ====== For this kind of b*** s*** Fico says I'm to pay extorted insurance premiums for auto and home insurance and deserve to be price gouged for interest rates on all loans. Re: Re: Re: OT: Another little rant about Qwest Yes it is but what's more insane is the phone Co.adding $75.oo to my phone bill for returned check fees. How can that be justified when there weren't any checks?
