Could someone please help me. I sent a dispute to TU on March 16th via online. I kept the response I got from them via my e-mail. Anyway. Time has elapsed considerably. Dispute should of been back to me around April 16th. So I called them today. They told me that they send it out on March 14th ??and it came back to them. But when I disputed I sent them my new address. The woman told me that she did not have to supply me a new report or did she have to supply me the information on the tradelines (addresses etc) I disputed. She said two of the four tradeline were verified. She also told me that she did not have to give me the DOLA's on acct's either. She said that they do not do that ?? What should I do ? I know that they have to supply this information. I'm just not sure how to go about it. I want to call them back again today. Please any suggestions or advice would be great. Kathy
1. Don't call them. Put everything in writing. 2. Get familiar with the FCRA so you know why they have to give you the DOLA § 609. Disclosures to consumers [15 U.S.C. § 1681g] (a) Information on file; sources; report recipients. Every consumer reporting agency shall, upon request, and subject to 610(a)(1) [§ 1681h], clearly and accurately disclose to the consumer: (1) All information in the consumer's file at the time of the request, except that nothing in this paragraph shall be construed to require a consumer reporting agency to disclose to a consumer any information concerning credit scores or any other risk scores or predictors relating to the consumer.
ok, I will send everything in writing for this. Can I ask for a copy of the report at this time as well? Kathy
Also file an FTC complaint., regardless of whether they now provide what they are required to. If systematic incompetance or deliberate illegality is never made visible, it will never be corrected. In the long run, the only way to maintain an accurate credit reporting system that is fair to the consumer is by making ALL information fully visible to the consumer. I saw somewhere that FTC is setting up a new system to forward complaints to the CRAs, and track their effectiveness at correcting problems. This should make sanctions for systematic non-compliance easier, if the CRAs are not careful.
