i have an at&t universal on all 3 of my CRs with a bal of 6329. Opened in 9/93 last activity(payment) 05/99. I have not heard a word from them about this account but i want to buy a house and i obviously need to do something with it. i have disputed it two times with each CRA with no success. has anyone ever sought and recieved a settlement with them? should i dispute it directly with them before i offer to pay anything . or can anyone offer me any suggestions on what is a reasonable % to offer to pay in exchange for complete removal. Thanks, alot
FAIRLY RECENT...HHMMM...IF YOU'RE NOT AFRAID TO WAKE A SLEEPING GIANT, DISPUTE WITH THE CRA's. ALSO SEND THEM A GOODWILL LETTER. DON'T THINK OC VALIDATION (DIFFERENT FROM CA VALIDATION) WILL WORK AS THEY MAY STILL HAVE YOUR CONTRACT AND STATEMENTS. YOUR BEST OPTION SOUNDS LIKE THE GOODWILL LETTER. KEEP THIS THREAD ALIVE BY BUMPING IT EVERY SO OFTEN. SOMEONE MAY HAVE A BETTER IDEA THAN MINE.
what kind of goodwill letter could i write on an account that old that i havent paid on in 3 years? believe it or not a rep from the FTC suggetted the Idetity theft route even after i told her it was mine
DO A SEARCH FOR GOODWILL LETTERS. PLENTY OF PEOPLE HAVE POSTED THEIRS FOR REVIEW. CONTINUE TO DISPUTE AS NOT YOURS AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS. BTW, BEFORE SENDING A GOODWILL LETTER TO THE CC COMPANY, DISPUTE IT WITH THEM. THE FTC MAY HAVE A GOOD IDEA IF THEY CAN'T VERIFY IT AS YOURS...i.e...THEY CAN'T FIND YOUR RECORDS. HERE'S A SAMPLE ORIGINAL CREDITOR VALIDATION LETTER. MAKE SURE YOU ONLY USE IT AS AN EXAMPLE. YOURS SHOULD FIT YOUR SITUATION.
