I had taken a long break from credit repair but my husband and I are looking to build a new house within 2 years.............so I need to get busy on cleaning our reports. Take a look and tell me what you think...... My Experian report: Collection Account: Asset Acceptance; balance-$3457; scheduled to continue until Aug. 07 (I'm going to wait til it falls off) Discover Financial: Charged Off; Bal. 10,330-scheduled to remain until 2010. I know I stopped paying on it in 2000 and haven't paid since. Looks like the reset the time. First Federal Credit: Collection Acct; Bal. $22- Charged of Nov. '06. I don't know what this is for. I can pay it just to get rid of it if necessary. Merchant's & Professional (1): I believe this is a medical bill. Balance says "NA"; Status says "No Status"; Comment says, "Account in dispute under Fair Credit Billing Act"------I disputed this account back in Nov. of 2006 and it is still showing in dispute. Merchant's & Professional (2)- Collection account: Bal. $83; scheduled to continue until 2009- Disputed but verified (disputed with experian); Should I pay it? Merchant's & Professional (3)- Bal. $67; scheduled to continue until Dec. 2008; disputed but verified (disputed with experian) Merchant's & Professional (4)- Bal. $122; scheduled to continue until Feb. 2013-(has not yet been disputed) Midland Credit Mgmt: Original Creditor:Citibank; Collection account; Bal. $3026; scheduled to continue until Jan. 2008 The first 3 Merchant's & Professional accounts show as Joint with my husband. These accounts are my husband's accounts only so why would they be on my credit report? I would appreciate your comments/advice greatly!!!
The Merchants & Professionals accounts you are only disputing because they are his and not yours is that correct? Are you in a community property state? Have your credit reports been merged? Are you a responsible party at the doctors office? On the credit cards you should attempt to contact the CA who has the accounts and try for a PFD, instead of refusing to pay them and waiting until they just fall off.
TX is a community property state, so if you were married at the time of the bills creation then that, you are both responsible. And of course you always get a PFD in writing before it's paid, thats part of the stipulation of the letter.
