A lot of people seem to think it's becoming impossible to negotiate a pay for delete with creditors. I, however, know there are recent examples out there, so please share yours with the rest of the community if you were successful in obtaining a PFD within the last 1-2 years. Looking forward to reading your stories!
Beleive it or not, i simply called the collection agency and politely asked them if they were willing to do a pay for delete on two old medical bills and surprisingly they said YES! A signed pay to delete letter was then faxed to me on their letter head and i mailed in my payment along with a copy of the pay to delete agreement and within less then a week they electronically removed both collections from all three credit bureaus! I did pay the total amount of the collection, they would not settle for less for a pay to delete. My FICO scores rose 29 points!!
You hit the nail on the head....politely ask, and you'd be surprised with the results. I've also had several medical bills and another account I can't remember delete for pay.
The medical bills, were they still with the OC, and it was the OC reporting, or had they gone to collections?
They were turned over to a collection agency. FYI...alot of people say that it is impossible to do a settlement once you have a judgement with the court. Wellllll...just yesterday my sister called and made an offer for settlement for her 3 yr old judgement and they settled for less then 1/2!!! It is possible!!
