LOVE THIS BOARD I AHVE READ ALL 300 POST IN 3 DAYS TAKIN BREAKS OF COURSE!!

I have claimed BK in Aug. 2002 and was discharged 10/02. I have not applied nor called for anything but I really need to start establishing. Now questions should I apply to the invitations and preapprovls I receive in the mail?? I ordered my credit reports from all 3 because I do not know my scores.

    Thanks

Depends on who is sending the applications. At this point wait a few weeks and see what your reports have to say.

Establishing credit during the bk years is tough and does not happen overnight.

You are on the right direction by reading posts on this board

    Best regards,

DON'T jump on the first offer thinking you'll never get approved for a credit card again so you'll settle for whatever comes your way.

Now that you're becoming a person with a better understanding of your credit, learned the hardway I assume (BK), be wise to the credit offers.

READ carefully the terms. 29.99% interest credit cards are not a good deal. Neither are cards with a $200 credit limit and a $79.99 processing fee, $29.00 set up fee and the $49.99 one time start up fee.

It's been about a year since your discharge so it's pretty safe to try for a couple of cards. Capitol One has been great for me, as has Orchard.

But be sure you take the time to understand the card's terms and just because you get a "pre-approved" offer in the mail, doesn't mean it's going to be your only offer. They'll come. Be patient and be wise.....this time around.

Jinx -- I applied for an Orchard Bank MC last night via their website. My first application for credit since my BK was discharged in February. They say it takes 12-14 days for an approval so we'll see. I'm with ya and good luck!!
