Hi y'all, My spouse, who has otherwise great credit, is way past due on an Amex Gold and Amex Delta account. Both got sold to collections agencies. I paid Collect Corp for the Gold account, which was the smaller of the two. Tonight I got a call from GC Services that they want the balance in full from the Delta Card: $4500. We know we owe the debt, and can afford to pay it in full on another card through Western Union. I know this is first grade stuff but I haven't had to do this yet - we want to make sure it doesn't land on his credit report if possible so we can buy a house next year. Should we demand validation, or go directly to Westcap and pay in exchange for deletion? Thanks! Poochie
forgot to mention that we are in GA, if it matters. I've read Desperado's thread, but we haven't been sued yet - they just offered us a "24 hour hold before taking legal action out of respect for me" (ha!) Poochie
You know you owe it and you want to pay it. I would go straight to a written settlement agreement? Make them sign it and fax to you, and once received you will WU the balance. I honestly haven't studied up on the Westcap endorsement, so can't say much about it. Just my .02
