I don't know if the kids put in some POP-UP KILLER on my computer...or you got that from some other web site and it followed you here...

Some of the music sharing software causes random pop-ups along with programs like gator.

You might want to go over to www.tucows.com and download a program called ad-aware 6.0. It removes all the data miners, spyware, and adware that sneaks onto your system.

    Thanks Dixie,

My lovely teen downloaded Kazaa the other day. That would explain it.

Wait till you get attacked with sticly banners...

Those are fun. If you go to a regular site, "sticky banners" from porn sites and other sites attach to your computer (this is what msn told us). When you email attachments to an unsuspecting person...they open the attachment and find "LOLA" sitting there buck naked. Our business e-mail got hit with these...no wonder no one ever replied back, LMAO.

Oh, and YES this can happen without going to check the nudie sites, lol.

adaware is a great program, been using it for a while now :) For blocking pop-ups, and flash-ads, I also use a proggie called adsgone. With those two combined, I never have any problems.

    Re: Re: Pop Ups

Kazaa and Grockster are the worst. They will crash your system when the programs are running and add LOTS of stuff you don't want on your hard drive. The worst part of it is you don't even know all the bad stuff is there.

I have a separate "box" dedicated to nothing but running file swapping programs.

Running a another box is a good idea if you can do it, proxy type deal....or at the very least instead use kazaa lite if you can't afford two boxes, or just use plain old ftp....oth.net..
