Possible dumb question (sorry)

I tried to dispute inquiries that appear on my reports but don't belong to me and the CRAs tell me to dispute them with the creditors who originally made them. For me to dispute the inquiries with them, I will have to provide my SS# and other personal info, will this cause further trouble for me? Or does it not matter since they already have it because they are reporting the inquiries to my reports? If it may be a problem for me, then what is the appropriate method of using one of the various letters posted here on the board along with getting the creditor to realize who it is that they are dealing with? Thank you. (I hope that makes sense)

Which CRA's have you disputed inquiries with so far? The ltr Christi posted was directed towards the CRA's. The other letter, by author, appears to be directed to the original creditor themselves. You do not need to give them your ss# nor any additional information. All someone needs to make an inquiry on your report, is your name and address.

I disputed with TU and EX but I have only received a response from TU stating that they do not investigate inquiries and only the original creditor can do anything about them.

Thanks for the reply, and I'll send the letter to the creditors with my name and address only.

You got it backwards..mine goes to creditor, Author's is for the CRA's. :)

I received this response the first time I tried to delete inquiries with TU. Next, I tried online and they are all gone now. Which way did you try?

I tried online and received that letter in the mail within a week or so.

Oh, no! I'm sorry. Maybe try a letter this time? I tried more than once on some of them. Maybe just wait a couple weeks and try online again? I had the best results online, and several others did also. You might try to search for the old threads about this. Several people had methods for the online disputes.
I think it just depends on the clerk who gets your report. Hopefully, you'll get lucky next time.
