I owe my college $800 and I was unaware of the fact that they sent this to a collection agency. last night I received a call from this collection agency basically saying I need to pay this or the school is going to take me to court and then there will be a judgment against my name? This is all new to me...I never received anything in the mail and I also never received any phone calls....all of which they said happened. To make matters worse the only way out of this according to them is to make a payment of $200 every 15 days until this debt is paid off! I told them I couldn't't afford to do this, but I would be more than willing to set up a more reasonable payment plan, and they were not at all willing to do this. It was the $200 or nothing! I am really frustrated because then she started throwing legal terms around like judgments! I don't know what to do, as I cannot afford the $200 payment plan, and I can't afford for this to go to court and risk ruining my credit for the next 10 years! Any help would be appreciated! Also, I have really no idea what a judgment would mean? How badly does that effect my credit? If I was to go to court and the court sided with me (as I make no money and have tons of student loans) would I still get a judgment? Thanks for all you help!

I actually do work full time, I just don't make that much money coupled with the fact that I live in an expensive city and I have many student loans I am paying on..blah, blah. blah...A typical situation. Anyway, if you wouldn't mind answering this: How likely do you think it is they will take me to court for $800? I would think they wouldn't waste their time on small time stuff like this when there is more $$$ out there.
