Possible to get old loan to add TL?

Sometime in 2000-01 I had an installment loan with a bank. I paid it within about two weeks, even though it was a 24 month loan. The bank never reported the TL.

Is it likely they would be willing to report it if I ask nicely? It's a large bank.

I hate to say it, but from my experience, a 6+ year old installment loan that has 2 weeks of payment history isn't going to be much of a boon to your score or your report in general. Just a thought to consider before you go digging around too deep for that account number.

I agree with ratzo. Often accounts that old won't still have records from the OC, and I think due the brief-ness of the account, it is probably non-existing now.

However, I'm all for trying whatever you can. If you can find the info you need without too much trouble, it doesn't hurt to ask once. You might get lucky. If it doesn't work, I'd leave it go.

I can tell you I had a bank TL that was good except for a couple of late payments. I disputed to have it updated as no lates, but because the account was about 6 yrs old, the bank no longer had records, and therefore the account was deleted. (I'm still not sure if I inadvertantly got a good account deleted for this action) But maybe that will give a clue to banks and their records. Not likely to have records after several years.
