I hadn't visited this site in awhile. Recently decided to drop in again and see what's up. After reading a lot of the posts on here, it got me in the mood to test the waters again.

I applied for Home Depot, Walmart & Circut City cards. Results:
    Home Depot - Approved $1,400
Walmart - Approved Store Card $500
    Circut City - Approved $800

I haven't rechecked my credit report or credit scores lately but I'll do that soon to see what is new there.

Filed BK in June 2001 and so far the list of cards and loans has been:

    $120,000 Mortage (now worth $240,000) @ 5.75% 30 year fixed
    $30,000 HELOC @ 9.5 %
New Kia Sorrento (don't remember off hand the rate) 8%?
    and many credit cards:

    Patelco Credit $2500
    Jared's $4900
    Zales $2000
    Discover $3500
    Cap1 $2500
    Cap 1 $300
    Cap 1 $300
    Orchard $1000
    Orchard $1050
    Lowes $1400
    Dillards $2000
    JCPenny $1000
Target Visa $3500 (upgraded me from $200 store card - took 3 years)
    QT (gas) - $1000
    Exxon (gas) - $400
    Chevron (gas) $500

Recently purchase 46" DLP HDTV, Receiver, Woofer, Playstation 3 (blu ray disc), and the accessories so I've put about $3500 of credit back on the books.

I will pay all this stuff off over the next year or so. A lot of the cards have $0 balance but that took some time.

I know I have too many cards but now I have history on my report and I don't want to lose that. I have actually cut up the Zales, the two little Cap1 cards and both of my Orchard cards because the interest rate it too high on them too use.

So for those of you who have a BK 7 on their records, know that there is a light at the end of your tunnel. Just be patient, be diligent and know that it won't get fixed overnight. It will take a couple of years to get anything decent and over the next few YEARS after that, the cards, limits and interest rates will soon follow.

Congrats on the house first and foremost. I don't know your scores but I would think you might be able to replace some of those low limit cards with a well placed credit union like Penfed. I even got smallish lines (3 and 5 K) with Chase and Citi. My BK7 is from early 2000. Again congrats.
